Description

The Force, Incorporated DTVLinx Model 2853 Multimode 10-270 Mb/s Fiber Optic Link provides a high-quality, low cost system for transferring high-speed digital video or data with complete EMI immunity via fiber optics. The Model 2853 handles data rates from 10 Mb/s to 270 Mb/s and it offers excellent performance with up to 14 dB optical loss using 62.5/125 micron multimode fiber. There are no user adjustments required over the full optical loss range.
State-of-the-art 1310 nm electro-optics are incorporated to achieve the performance levels cited. The parts may also be used with ECL logic levels (positive or negative). The transmission path length is dependent on fiber size, data rate and fiber link bandwidth. At low data rates (below 75 Mb/s), the fiber attenuation versus launch power available are the most important factors.
Using a high quality fiber (with less than 1.5 dB/km loss and 1,000 MHz/km bandwidth at 1330 nm), the link will transmit up to 10 km over 62.5/125 nm fiber and 8 km over 50/125 nm fiber. At 270 Mb/s, the link will be limited to 3.5 km. If longer path lengths are required, the single-mode version is usable to distances greater than 40 km over 9/125 nm fiber (0.5 dB/km at 1310 nm).
