Description
Signal Safe Retrofitted Reinforcement for Span Wire Signalization
Existing span wire intersections retrofitted with Signal Safe devices are a viable and cost effective alternative to mast arm conversions
Hurricane protection of traffic signalization is critical to maintaining a safe and efficient roadway system. Signal Safe, Inc’s inception and goal was primarily grounded on life-safety issues that require the preservation of traffic signals. Most of Florida’s traveling public understands this issue and the need for a solution.
THE SIGNAL SAFE PIVOTAL HANGER ASSEMBLY AND REINFORCEMENT SYSTEM ADDRESSES ALL KNOWN FAILURE POINTS TO THE CURRENT DUAL SPAN WIRE SYSTEM
The State of Florida, like many other coastal states, has been severely impacted by lost traffic signalization due to hurricane force winds. Over half of Florida’s 10,000+ span wire intersections sustained damage during the 2004-05 storm season, resulting in statewide injuries and fatalities due to uncontrolled intersections.
In response, the FDOT and most coastal governments have implemented Mast Arm Policies that include programs to convert existing span wire intersections to steel mast arms in order to maintain safe post storm re-entry and normalcy.
